about the Porsche Carrera 6 from Corgi Toys is equipped with Whizzwheels

 These miniatures are in a particular place in one of the collection streets. It was born in 1970, and it was signed in 1972. The story of this game corresponds to a period of my life, which is where the world of childhood and adolescence is based. The models are not just the same questions as the first miniatures. I took good care of it. We started our collection adventure with our father in 1975, and now we can put it proudly in the vitrine. On this date, the car that appeared on the circuits in 1966 (see the blog dedicated to the Porsche Carrera 6) was considered «d’antiquité».

Later, I discovered the first version. Corgi Toys lovers, in general, have an aversion to this type of wheels. I prefer the molded zamak rims equipped with rubber tires. If the models equipped with Whizzwheels wheels are very aesthetically pleasing, they are clearly rarer. Furthermore, the Porsche Carrera equipped with Whizzwheels was produced in 312,000 examples, against 850,000 for the premiere, and in the same period of time, 3 years. Another trump card, not just the same, of these models housed in the beautiful illustrious glass bottles. The red and yellow colors (like Solido !) and the drawings on the back are really lovely.

Please replace these models in their context to understand everything they are interested in. I consider them as the end of the Corgi Toys adventure. In 1972, the first single-seat models reproduced in 1/38 appeared, following the entire series of sedans and coupés in the same year. I distinguish two series from the models equipped with Whizzwheels wheels. The first one, the most interesting one in my eyes, was created before 1969. Corgi Toys is the one I’ve enjoyed every day in the sets of these roues Whizzwheels. Certain items have been simplified or received a new color, as the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray offered this week.

The Ford Capri, similarly to the menu, is part of the second series. This car doesn’t know what type of roads it is. In this live book, it is représente bien ces 70 years old. It’s a success.

 Same comment for the second Porsche 911 License plate in police and police law reserved for the Dutch market. This is the same as a specific fluorescent red finish with the best effect. 

 These Wizzwheels models achieved great success in Great Britain after a certain time. Collectors have understood their interest and rarity ! Finding new items in boxes is easy. At the beginning the first version lovers disregarded it although they should be considered as an integral part of the great history of Corgi Toys. If you don’t appreciate this type of product, we will have a beautiful Chevrolet Impala in two-tone finish this week. This strong aesthetic version is generally unanimous.

Let’s remain in Corgi Toys theme with two more recent products. The reproduction style is most important. The models do not need to be charming in terms of their theme: they are attached to the world of cinema and television series. On this basis, the reproduction of the famous Aston Martin from the film Goldfinger is suitable for the reputation of the Swansea company. The interest of these two models offered this twenty-first week is linked to the past riches of Corgi Toys. How to reman indifferent in front of the Lotus Esprit and its box ?

While preparing this week’s programming, I found myself thinking about Mr. Nakajima, the famous Japanese collector. In one of his works, the latter chose to present his miniatures by theme: police, taxi, firefighter… Within each theme he sorted by country. Michel Sordet will do the same in his magazine “Ma Collection”. From this type of classification emerges one unit per country of manufacture. This week several police vehicles are on the menu. The recipe is always the same. Manufacturers draw basic models from their catalog to produce a font version. The addition of a rotating beacon, an antenna and specific decoration transforms a peaceful sedan or family station wagon into a law enforcement vehicle. Simple and economical. The antenna is the essential accessory. The commercial success of the toy depends in part on its treatment. C-I-J seems to me to be the manufacturer who has produced the most spectacular and, let’s say it, the most reliable. For its Renault 300kgs dauphinoise, the Briare firm used a twisted steel rod fixed to the rear of the roof, which hangs on the front of the hood.

With this realistic and functional accessory, the model enjoyed great success. This model is on the program just like this superb Mebetoys Fiat 1500. The antenna is here in chrome plastic and the manufacturer, for the sake of realism, has added a beautiful rotating beacon and a tasteful two-tone finish.

Cette semaine une très belle palette de Mebetoys est offerte. Porsche 911 et Mini avec skis et luge, Alfa Romeo Alfa Romeo Alfasud avec bateau. Cette dernière, tardive dans l’histoire Mebetoys est très peu fréquente. 

I really like the loading. Originally this assembly was designed for the larger Fiat Dino. The “Mare” version attached to the box takes us to the shores of the Adriatic. I hope that the happy vacationers will not encounter any carabinieri on the way because the loading seems a little presumptuous to me given the size of the car.

My favorite for two Volkswagen Kombi. The first from Marklin, in Franz Carl Weber colors. It represents a bygone era. I learned that this chain of Swiss stores dedicated to the toy trade was surely going to disappear. It’s the end of a world. For several generations, including mine, this logo has been associated with the world of quality toys and it is synonymous with wonderful memories. To the point that every time I come across a Corgi Toys, a Tekno, a Mercury or a Dinky Toys bearing an FCWeber price tag I keep it carefully. The same goes for stamps on catalogs.

 This Kombi Marklin was the first to wear the colors of this famous brand. In my memory, this is the first time that a chain of toy stores has chosen to order decoration specific to its colors from a toy manufacturer. An order will follow from Tekno and Corgi Toys, then later from Eligor. This piece is rare. The sober decoration is superb. This is a first class piece.

The second, later, produced at Corgi Toys was made for a Dutch department store brand, Vroom Dreesman. Here again, a specific color and decoration was carried out. The small quantity produced makes this model a rare piece.
