The sides of the sideboard are smooth, ready to receive a beautiful decal in the colors of this Swedish company.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The second is an undecorated version. Its harmonious color combination and the presence of the first painted wheels are extras that should encourage you to acquire it.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Tekno often mixed cab and sideboard components, which allowed them to manage their surplus of painted parts.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>For the collector, it&#8217;s a challenge, and discoveries are always possible. The Opel Rekord 58 had a rather unusual history with Tekno.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>For reasons unknown to me, the Danish company thought it wise to create a display case made of transparent plastic, consisting of a base and a lid. The manufacturer&#8217;s name was engraved on the lid. The idea was avant-garde.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>A little over ten years later, manufacturers would all be offering &#8220;display case&#8221; boxes where the customer could see the miniature.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>This type of box would be the bane of illustrators. But it seems to have confused toy retailers. The Dutch importer demanded different packaging.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>So, an illustrated cardboard case will be created for it, similar to those used for the other models in the range.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The designs appear to have been done by someone outside of Tekno. A number of utility vehicles (GMC Brink&#8217;s, Leyland Octopus Shell-BP tanker), vehicles from television series (The Prisoner and Stripey&#8217;s Mini), and even military vehicles were also distributed with this type of box during this short period.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Most are difficult to find. Furthermore, these boxes are also fragile because the dimensions were calculated somewhat conservatively.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>It&#8217;s an excellent theme for collecting, exciting, and full of surprises.
