He explained that he had consulted AI, which had validated his purchase and even told him he was looking at an unusual version&#8230; The headlights were yellow rhinestones\u2014something the machine deemed exceptional.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>I was somewhat taken aback. I had never stopped to consider whether the color of rhinestone headlights\u2014white versus yellow\u2014made a model rarer.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>That got me wondering about the value and relevance of such information. How much weight should one give to such a claim?<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>I was reminded of two books we have for sale this week: the famous &#8220;Brochard&#8221; volumes. The title says it all: *Inestimable Dinky Toys*. To attract buyers, the author compiled hundreds of sales results\u2014often the most spectacular ones\u2014but, unfortunately, without any analysis.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The essential element is missing. A project like this could only have been successfully executed by a group of serious collectors.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Suffice it to say, it is the kind of book that holds no real value. I can already hear people saying, &#8220;But the real appeal lies in the color photos.&#8221; That got me thinking about AI. If AI incorporates the data from these books\u2014and their astronomical price tags\u2014how will it interpret the situation? That\u2019s an interesting question. We live in a society drowning in numbers; they call the shots. Knowing that this model was originally designed for the &#8220;Junior&#8221; series, he wondered if the 113B could also be categorized under &#8220;Solido Junior&#8221; in his website\u2019s classification system. Modern digital tools allow us to cross-reference data to better meet customer search needs. I told him that, in my view, this wasn&#8217;t possible for a simple reason.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Solido\u2019s DNA\u2014the guiding principle throughout the era when the De Vazeilles family was at the helm, from the 1930s through the mid-1970s\u2014was to offer children toys that were both sturdy and &#8220;ludic.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>By nature, all toys are meant for play. However, by &#8220;ludic,&#8221; Solido meant toys that could be taken apart and transformed. Solido was unique in successfully pulling off this feat: producing miniatures that resembled real-life cars seen on the street, yet were meticulously designed and capable of transformation.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Reference 113B, therefore, belongs to the &#8220;100&#8221; series. These models are permanently assembled (riveted) and\u2014unlike the Junior series models\u2014were not designed to be taken apart or transformed.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The Junior series Ford Thunderbird can be converted from a coup\u00e9 into a convertible. To my mind, the 113B is simply a &#8220;100&#8221; series model. Every collector organizes their collection according to their own criteria; I do not claim to hold the absolute truth.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>This conversation with Adrien led me to draw a connection with the Solido models being featured on his sister\u2019s website this week.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>They perfectly illustrate the points I just made. We have three impressive military sets here. Few enthusiasts are interested in the entirety of Solido\u2019s vast range; almost everyone focuses on the &#8220;100&#8221; series, with its race cars and sports cars.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The lineup also includes a series of 1930s cars that would eventually become the &#8220;Age d\u2019Or&#8221; (Golden Age) range. Alongside this, there is the &#8220;300&#8221; series, dedicated to heavy trucks, while the &#8220;200&#8221; series is reserved for military vehicles.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Today, few collectors take an interest in all these different branches. One of the most interesting features of Solido models is that the design team created them to be adaptable: they could be sold either fully assembled in individual boxes or as kits in multi-model sets.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>It may seem like a small detail, but to me, it is remarkable.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The ability to mix and match cabs from Berliet, Bernard, Willem\u00e9, and Unic with various body styles within the &#8220;PL4&#8221; set is simply exceptional and unique\u2014especially given that every version produced was realistic. It is also worth noting that Solido offered sets allowing children to assemble their own Tiger or Sherman tanks. During the De Vazeilles era, Solido was the world&#8217;s most ingenious and creative manufacturer of miniature cars.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Be sure to take advantage of these fine sets, which are rarely seen. Few collectors thought to buy them at the time, as they failed to grasp their historical significance.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>We also have other armored vehicles for sale this week, including my childhood favorite: the sand-colored Jagdpanther. It is a masterpiece. The camouflage paintwork is magnificent.
